Hoping this thread doesn't get buried in the M9 soup, but can someone recommend a flash with bounce capability that is nice and compact and will balance well on a compact fixed lens RF like an auto s3?
A few years ago the Sunpak 1600 was all the rage on RFF. The size of a pack of cards, auto and manual settings and bounce capability. Some people even made diffusers from old translucent film containers. I think they should be quite cheap and plentiful on the auction sites even now.
I think there is also a "dedicated" flash for the S3 which works with the camera's GN system. It might be worth tracking down, but likely no bounce ability.
Look for a Vivitar 2500. It looks like a miniature 285 complete with a zoom head, has the tilt head feature, will work on a hot shoe or with a PC cord, and uses 2 AA batteries. They also made an ultra-wide angle adapter that slides on the front which covers 28mm with room to spare. It takes the same synch cord as other Vivitar flashes. I have two of them and use them all the time.
