Leica LTM Considering acquiring a 3.5cm Elmar

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Nice results charjohn. I was looking for a camera to replace the iPhone, after not shooting 35mm for years (just 6x6,6x8 & 5x7") For me the iii with the 35 Elmar is what the rollei 35 should have been...but 30 yrs earlier. flat out a great pocket camera.

I now own an uncoated Nickel Elmar 50/3.5, an uncoated Summar and the tiny Elmar 3.5 cm/3.5. The following photo was taken with the 3.5 cm Elmar and Neopan 100SS.

Nice, Erik!!

I am waiting eagerly now for an uncoated 2.8 cm/6.3 Hektor lens, then I would have 28/35/50/90 (Elmar 90/4 but coated) in a very small package together with my II.

A very good lens. Brilliant. Sharp in the corners. No distortion.

Leica II, Elmar 35mm f/3.5 (nickel, 11-o-clock, coupled), 400-2TMY.

Erik.

Fantastic review in two photos Erik!

Look beyond high contrast, extreme sharpness and ruler flat distortion.
These lenses have many great character values that are highly appealing rather than perfection.

From my 2nd test roll. This time Tri-X. (pyrocat HD) & Ilford Classic FB in LPD. I've used the summicron 35 for decades, spent some time with the 35 summilux. I'm not seeing the result of haze. A delightful lens on the iii black & nickel. & Erik you're right about the corners. & holds up printed to 11x14" (28x35cm).

Beautiful separation in the shadows, Helen. The Elmar has beautiful character. I'm not sure what the naysayers were looking for...?
