Contarex B56 Filter question

I have been collecting for a while now, and have a couple of the Contarex I Bullsye and Special models. Recently I bought a camera set that came with many of the Zeiss B56 filters, the usual Contapol, Ikolor and B&W colored types. But in addition, there were 2 what I think are Infrared Filters, with the usual Zeiss markings on them and the designations RG8 and RG10. After a lengthy search of the internet I could not find any info on them.

Does anybody have any links to any Zeiss information on them or have any experience with these RG8 & RG10 Filters? Any help would be appreciated.

Guess that these filters are very rare indeed if nobody here has any info on them, oh well... will endeavor to persevere...

The Zeiss filter numbers are those of the associated Schott glass types. RG8 is still considered dark red (and was a filter popular with EIR), RG10 would be infrared.

Years ago I bought a UV filter with a silver 3 prong (or was it 3 slot?) bayonet mount that I was sure fitted one of the Contarex lenses most likely for a Bullseye. Maybe I was told as much at the time, I cannot recall. I bought it from an old-time camera store owned by a lovely old guy who gave me free reign to rummage through his many bits n pieces drawers (he had a big row of them across the front of his store on either side of the entry). These drawers held lots of little treasures from the 1950s and 1960s. More or less once a week during part of the 1990s I would avail myself of this opportunity during lunch time and more often than not find something I wanted - hoods, filters, accessories for various cameras but this was the only time I found something purportedly for a Contarex. I still have it somewhere I am sure. Never used it but bought it as I knew I would not see another and I never knew if one day I would lay my hands on one of those big ugly Zeiss beauties. I am guessing now without checking but 58mm comes to mind as the diameter but I could be wrong. I am not sure what its worth but if I can find it I can provide a photo of it to anyone interested and if we can agree on a price will sell it. It does not owe me a whole lot but they are quite rare it seems - certainly I have never in my years of camera fairs or rummaging in camera shop bins and the like seen another.

Thanks Sevo, its a start 🙂 I now at least could find the Schott catalog and seems they still make RG9, although the data sheets are Greek to me. It will no doubt take some study and practice to be able to use them.
