There is a big absence of a video on youtube where someone holds up, plays around etc with a Contax G2! I want to see how big it it in a pair of hands, how loud the shutter is etc and especially in comparison to a Leica M2/3.

Someone in here must have a Contax G2 and a Leica M2/3, would someone mind doing a video and post it up on youtube for everyone to see? :)

Oh and if someone is pro enough to be able to get a view through the viewfinder, huge plus!

(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4iq8OzXVss - a video like this)

I can do this tomorrow with my G1 and 45mm planar, I actually planned on adding more camera videos to my youtube channel.I previously made a video for the Mamiya 7ii which got 3,451 views, and a 645 Pro video which got 6,753 views. Considering linking it to my website to generate a little bit of traffic...

Sorry, forgot to do it because I was busy doing some portrait shoots this week! I'll try to get it done Monday or Tuesday. I think I'll show my Bessa L and one of my larger SLR's in the video as week for a size comparison.

Okay, so I'm starting this off with pictures and text, with video to come later. Internet connection is not the best right now.

First image - G1 Controls w/ 45mm f/2.

1 - Aperture Ring. f/2 thru f/16. Full-stop clicks only, but firm enough to set half-stops by feel.

2 - Shutter button, On/Off switch, AE lock, frame counter.

3 - AF/MF selector switch, manual focusing dial.

4 - Shutter speed dial, exposure compensation dial. (clever use of one dial for two functions, very easy to get used to).

5 - ISO, Motor Drive selection buttons and menu screen.

Btw, the hot shoe works with the Contax TLA series (both for G1/G2 and their SLR flashes as well). Also works with my Nikon SB-30, not sure about other models.

Contax G1 next to a Voigtlander Bessa L. Contax G1 is roughly 10% larger and 50% heavier. Controls are smooth, not as deliberate as the Bessa L.

Contax 45mm f/2 next to a Nikkor 50mm f/1.2.

The 45mm is about half the size of the 50mm due to its smaller aperture and shorter flange distance, being a rangefinder lens. It weighs 190 grams compared to the 50mm's 380 grams. Very sharp, nice bokeh and great contrast.

Nikon D700 next to Contax G1.

G1 is much lighter at 460 grams, compared to the D700's 1.1 kilograms. It's also about half the size.

As for a through-the-viewfinder shot, kinda difficult to do with my webcam. The view is more or less a similar magnification (with 45mm) to the prism of an APS-C DSLR.

Single AF bracket (not illuminated) in the center of the frame, with automatic parallax compensation via a slide-in mask that covers the frame.

Below the frame is a green LCD which displays focusing and shutter speed information.
