It is a really good lens on a camera that can deliver when used correctly.

Thank you, Ray. All posted images here were taken with the 45mm lens, I think.

It may be the scan but you have a faint white stripe across in the middle of every picture..

I really got frustrated with my last experience using g1 and 45mm wide open...the focus was off...I sold the body off and ordered another one from KEH so I am hoping this time it is good. I am giving one more chance to this set, otherwise, they will go...

Yes, it is the scan. I don't know how to remove it.

nice shots. I have a G1 that I am anxious to start using. I havent bought any lenses yet. I think the 45 2.0 is the one I want; but I havent found one I can afford yet.
How is the autofocus on this rig? some say it's too slow. What do you think?

Nice photos. I have a few shots with that combo that I have not yet uploaded to flickr. Great camera. I got a G1 on ebay that is in perfect condition, works well, only $135. The 45/2 was a little pricier, $350. The 90/2.8 appears on KEH from time to time, and it's always less than $200 (usually around $150). They can't keep them stocked. I tried to buy one yesterday and it was gone before I could place my order.
I'd eventually like to get the 28/90 and use the G1 with those three lenses as a travel kit.
These cameras are a steal.

Doing yourself a clean high-res scan using a good film scanner then properly post-processing the output RGB 16bits (DNG or TIFF) files with no automatic dodge/burn but accurate adjustments of levels and curves channel per channel may be the only solution to get nice pictures with no banding and a correct WB.
Well it is the only solution I'm afraid. Time consuming and not that exciting but worth it if you want to see and share pictures up to what your good lenses deliver.
What you display here might have been shot by whatever camera because what the lens captured and printed on the film has been heavily destroyed by some unproper machine scanning.
So if your goal is to show us how good the G Planar 45/2 is (and damn it is a good lens), no point with such pics, sorry.

It also looks like the prints, not the negs, were scanned. Scans of prints will never be as sharp as a scan of a negative.

These cameras might be steal but you need to be careful on their accuracy on focusing, there is no way of checking before you develop the film. Some old versions are not programmed correctly to work with 90mm so they have focusing issues. You need to upgrade it. So I think it is best to buy somewhere like KEH so you have warranty...

yes, my old body was showing the focus is on but all my shots were off so the calibration was off not related to my ability to focus on those machines. I got rid of it and waiting my second upgraded body from KEH!

As someone said in another thread about the G1/G2 cameras - "you either love or hate them." But almost everyone loves the "glass." That said, my G2 stays loaded with 45/2 Planar mounted.

The G2 is much improved over the G1.

If you're using Epson V700 one of the reviewers at B&H or Amazon posted a fix for this problem. I just read it few days ago but don't remember which one it was.
