Contax g1, should I ?

The 45 Planar and 28 Biogon are truly spectacular lenses and unsurpassed IMO...

The other thing about these cameras is that they feel like you are holding a Bentley. This thing has been crafted by Leonardo out of Platinum plated Moon rock, blessed by Moses and Jesus, then delivered by Audrey Hepburn wearing her birthday suit.

Really, I don't see how anything can compare.

Oh, it takes great shots too! :)
AMEN TO THAT!!

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up buying a a broken meter leica CL. After having a digital for a little bit, I got over welmed by too much gadgetry so I ended up going in the complete opposite direction. I put an add in my local craigs list for a G1 and I got 3 calls in 3 days so I was tempted. It looks like a great little camera, maybe I will still get one some day.

You won't regret buying that CL, good luck with it. And since you said you were overwhelmed by too much gadetry, you made the correct choice. I had all the same peoblems with my two Gs as described by myoptic3 above. These problems were intermittent and didn't happen all the time, just when a shot was important it seemed. The Gs lenses are amazing, but unfortunately the bodies aren't.

It's interesting that you chose the Leica CL from a 'too technological perspective'. I've just made the jump to a G1 with 28/45/90 off of the back of (happily) using a Voigtlander Bessa R and Leica IIIf. Of course my rationale is always that this is the last camera that I will buy (hand on heart). But of course it never is. Just spun through my first roll of film and enjoyed the process enormously - for AF AE it's much more thinking than you would credit for being. If I remember I'll post results and follow up with further comments after I've received my print back.
