Hi just got a roll back today, the 28mm is sharp as a tack on all photos. About half of my 90 mm shots came back out of focus. Some were close up, & others up to infinity. Anyone else have this problem with their 90 2.8 lens?
Contax g1 with 90mm lens, out of focus.

I am always hesitant to suggest the potential for user error but I usually do anyway. I have never had a problem with mine.
The 28mm has lots of DOF and covers many focus errors. The 90mm on the other hand............
Mine always focuses exactly on the center spot. That is with both a G1 and G2 body. I find the key is to check in the viewfinder and make sure the focus indication is showing.
FWIW, I have found the key to getting any of the ContaxG focus to really work is to have the viewfinder window really clean. It is amazing how much a thumbprint on the glass will confuse the focus mechanism.
I have never had a ContaxG misfocus with any of the lenses. Either they focus or they don't. But when they do, they are spot on.

I had it set for Manual focus by mistake.

I found that I had mistakenly set my camera for Manual Focus...
I decided to get a new one because I tried a unit labeled as excellent at a local populat shop in NY. Luckily I visited the store because the "excellent" used unit did not work at all.
I got one new and I was very happy with my first roll. On my second roll suddenly a bunch of frames were Blurred. I was very disappointed but after looking at the camera I had it set to focus at 1 meter manually,lol.
Try again:
1) Make sure it's on auto
2) Make sure to use high shutterspeeds, 1/125 and above
3) Try to be still.
4)Be sure you can return the lens, if it's new to you.

Shot another roll. the camera was bad. The shop exchanged it for another in stock. Shot a quick roll today with both my lens. Perfect focus each time. The camera would lock on focus then as you pressed the shutter button all the way the lens would move out of focus.
