Contax G2 Auto Rewind incomplete

I recently picked up a G2 in A- condition.
Everything seems to be working well but one thing is odd:

When the film roll is done, it doesn’t auto rewind the film until the end into the cassette. It stops before so that a small stripe (ca. 2cm) of the film still looks out. Like a fresh new film.

This now happened twice out of two times.
I’m sure the film got exposed and advanced. Because after inserting the film and firing some shots, I opened the door and saw it got winded.
The rewind however ends incompletely.

Is this the normal behavior? Should I reclaim my G2?

There are Custom Function settings for G2. I believe that this is Custom Function #3, set to "0" the film will rewind all the way in, and set to "1" the film lead will be left out, as in the film days, people want to change films in mid roll.
