Not sure how it happened, but my "Drive Mode Dial" on the upper left end of the top panel of my G2 has somehow come loose and will not fix (or click) into any one position, rendering the camera inoperable (it doesn't know what mode to be in, I guess).

Has anyone had this problem before? If so, any thoughts on how to remedy the situation?

Thanks in advance!

Since nobody has answered by now, no, I haven't had this with my G2.

But!

On my G1 the dials are just caps on a shaft, there they are fixed with small screws on the side and I lost those on the shutter dial. As with your G2 it rotated freely.

Since the G2 has screws on top of the dials, could it be that yours is lose?

While mine doesn't have your problem, it is very easily moved out of position simply by putting it in and removing it from its bag. It sounds like an easy fix, though. AS a suggestion, Keh.com does a good job with repairs.

Thanks for this, but I've tried to tighten the "screw" on the top of the dial, but to no avail. I think I will go see a specialist here in Hong Kong this weekend to get their opinion.

Went to the local repair shop here in Hong Kong and they said "no sweat" - $500 (about USD70) and they'd have it working within a week. Evidently, I need a part, but when I inquired exactly which one, something got lost in translation! Go figure.
