Contax g2 Finish Question

Was there more than one Black finish? I heard one was titanium and one black paint.

AFAIK, those 2 were it. "Champagne" titanium & black.

That Titanium finish is near unmarkable. I have used mine for 2 years + now and if I wipe off the hand smudges, it shines without any sign of wear or a scratch ... been many places, bumped into doors etc a lot.

I am afraid the black finish is just painted on and will come off with wear. Of course you may just want to pay more for the black one just to be different.

I have a Black Titanium Set never opened. Body, 3 lenses, flash and shades. 100% new. I'll have to use it one of these days.

I read some where, there were two different black finishes (at least in Europe) for the G2. One came in the 28mm + 45mm + 90mm set, the other one in the black G2 + 35-70mm set. Both with matching flashes. I remember someone who had both complaining that the finishes didn't match up.

Though I have to say I am not 100% sure here.

The black G2 is titanium, I am not sure how the finish is applied. I have two and both have worn VERY well, I do not believe they are a painted finish.
