This may be a naïve question : I got one of my Contax ii(1936) back together. I seems to work only when I wind it while pulling up on the winding knob. What i mean by work the shutter can be set and the sound of the shutter sounds about right for each setting.
This is not normal is it?
What's wrong?
How to fix it?
Anyway, the Kiev I got cheep combined with the Sonar lens may be my final solution. I call it a CONIVE!
Thanks in advance for your thoughts

I have never had to pull up on the wind knob with either my Contax iia or Kiev 4a (basically a Contax ii).

Thanks for the reply.
The pulling up on the winding knob did not make sense to me but it seems to work the mechanism. I must be close though, to fixing it, what ever it may be?!!
thanks

I used the instructions on the Kiev Survival pages when taking my Contax II and Kiev 3a apart- just in case you did not know about these instructions.
None of the cameras that I took apart required pulling up the knob to wind. Something not quite in place?
