I'd have to disagree Rich about the shots having no artistic merit. That incredulous dog shot is a total classic moment. All beautiful shots, great job!

Rich,
Nice pics and camera! The 'old stuff' still has a unique look. Maybe it's just preference?

Regit from our forum (among others) have the Zeiss to Leica adapter and have used their sonnars on their Leica Ms. I believe Brett (Joe Friday) might have one as well.
Best of both worlds, really, as I agree the camera bodies are rather fiddly to use. But the lens, wow, it is a star ;-)

I've got one coming in the mail (prewar, uncoated), and I'd be curious to see results since it'll probably be another week or so before I get mine

You know, I played with this IIIa a bit and I don't mind the viewfinder. It's not as big and bright as I'm used to, but I'm good at adapting to those kinds of differences. The only thing I really don't like about the camera is the way the entire back comes off for film loading because it's fiddly to get it back on. It's gorgeous and built like a brick.
Anyway, I don't usually like photos of myself, but I do like these. So the lens must not be too shabby. By the way, you guys realize all the photos aren't of me, right?

Y'all are comparing the Contax to the Leica M's, which is a bit unfair, because when the Contax line was introduced in the 1930s, it competed w/the thread mount (Barnack) Leicas, which are much more difficult to load (not that hard, but still a PITA) than any Contax (or Nikon RF) & have just as squinty a VF, only w/the inconvenience of a separate RF window. It should be remembered that the Leica M was originally conceived as Leitz's "Contax killer" (e.g., by adopting the combined VF/RF, easier loading, single shutter speed dial, bayonet mount, etc.) & we now know why it pretty much succeeded.

I meant the Contax. I don't like the VF in the IIIf at all. Sorry man!

Ooo, that's tough. You can stereotype the look only a little, but listening to accents (when applicable), as well as knowing the names helps, too. Just like with all the other cultures, but there are always exceptions. It's a fun topic
I used to watch Get Smart on nick-at-night back in the late 1990's, and saw an episode where an asian guy was trying to ransom a specific blonde californian chick.. but ended up with a house full of them instead -- the joke was they all looked the same and he couldn't figure out which one she was, so he kidnapped all

One more from the same rolls.
I really like the creamy look of the Sonnar.
Or maybe it's the alcohol talking...
