Hi,

can someone explain what the characteristic the zeiss lens on the t2 is/has.

also whats the differece with the 35ti's nikkor lens.

I've had both. The Nikon's a little sharper but it's color rendition is cooler compared to the T2. The biggest difference is that the Nikon focuses down to less than 0.4 meters, the T2 down to 0.7 meters. The T2 also has an electronic RF assist for MF, the Nikon is scale focus in MF. Both have active IR AF with Nikon using 833 AF steps vs "only" 160(?) for the T2. This may help the Nikon a little more for sharpness but remember that the closer minimum focus of the Nikon requires many more AF steps so I'm not sure if the amount of AF steps is that big a deal.

T2 has richer color and a fabulous viewfinder. The Nikon is sharper and handles tricky light situation better. I preferred the T2 to the Nikon 35TI in it's handling, feel and the lovely color saturation levels and contrast produced in black & white.

The 38mm sonnar is also not overly contrasty which is a great thing as it will give you really smooth tonal transitions on colour or b&w. Prints usually come out looking gorgeous. I'm using the T3 with the 35mm (for ergonomics), but I still prefer the 38mm quite a great deal.

I'm not going to tear lenses apart and say which is sharper or anything like that. It's a Zeiss lens, it's just good.
