Hello,

if everything goes fine I should soon be an owner of a mint T3. As the camera will come with a filter adapter I was wondering whether using the camera with BW filter (yellow, orange, red) would be feasible.

The point is - as far as I know the camera does not offer a manual ISO setting. The exposure compensation allows adjustments up to +/- 2 stops.

Now, using a Pyrocat HD for development I usually expose the films at 1/2 - 2/3 stop lover speeds than the box speed. That can be easily handled with exposure compensation on the T3. However if I would use lower than box film speed with say and orange filter that requires 2 stops more exposure compensation it seems that I could have a problem to obtain proper exposure.

So - how do you handle this? Any tricks?

Well, maybe you want to experiment by covering the sensor (the circular window below the viewfinder) with neutral density tape or colored gels...That's all I can think of for now...

The -1/2 -2/3 stops can be programmed permanently with the t3 though. So no issues there.

I'd be curious to hear how you manage...

Viel Spass mit der T3,
m.

Good idea a piece of ND filter taped over the metering could indeed work.

I was also thinking of altering the ISO information on the film canisters (see HERE). I have realized that very rarely one needs to set faster ISO (or to make '-' exposure compensation) so I just could set the ISO lower by say 1.5 stops and set the camera exposure compensation to -1 when no filter is used and change to +1 or +2 with yellow/orange filter.

Still - I first need to figure out how to do this efficiently ...

Maybe a bit of tin foil and some tape directly on the sensors inside the spool chamber would do the trick?

I don't know if bulk loaders can buy empty cassettes with different speed markings on them. That might be an alternative...Switch out the films...
