i'm almost certain that the contre jour trend started because the LCD washes out when you put the sun behind you. people mostly used digicams then, and cameraphones now.

Nice shot, I can look at this and it brings back lots of memories. Could be Rochester, NY, not too far from Kodak. Houses with basements, sidewalks located well back from the street. Trying to walk on icy sidewalks. Snowmen and snow forts. The plows making a bigger pile for a bigger fort. Crispy air ( you'd have to experience that to know it). Change the cars and it's 1965, before digital, before the bankruptcy. Where did it go?
