Anybody have any actual experience using current generation (made for digital) wide converter lenses on 120 folders?

I've seen an article (in French) on the use of a wide angle converter on the XPan and the Lensmate site shows comparative performance of 2-4 such lenses on the Canon digicams. But I haven't found any other sites with analysis or comparisons.

I'm focusing on the less extreme wide angles -- in the 0.7x to 0.8x range. As long as we're being picky, I wouldn't mind a focus on those with a 37mm rear thread. Preferably under $100.

This might also interest the few who sometimes yearn for a wider lens on folders.

PS I know the old ones had a reputation as Coke bottle glass.

It sounds like you're ready to graduate up an old press camera like a Century or Crown Gaphic 23. Each shutter and lens combo is mounted on a lens board. Changing out the lens boards isn't too traumatic, but you will want to remove the film back want to pop a viewing screen to reset the infinity stop.

I posted this reply in the Xpan forum -- indexing it here because it may be helpful to folderiacs interested in modifying the FOV of their fixed lens folders.
