Cool stuff

"At -30°C or -37°c objects change state, everything becomes slower, harder: movements such as changing a lens, or handling a tripod – as your fingers get frozen stuck on it – are not like when you are shooting at “normal” temperatures. Just pressing with my thumb on the release cable and it breaks like a piece of small wood…"

Many thanks, I will give it a go. I am 100% film and always have been so just my kind of site. Good to see newbies discovering film for the first time and oldies coming back, though I am proud to say I never left and feel vindicated in this attitude.

Thanks for the link. I've shot with an M6 in -40F temps in Northern Canada. Within a minute the battery died, and the film had to be advanced slowly. Don't know how well a digital camera would hold up battery wise.

Maybe you should read this from their website:

"The internet is a wonderful place to discover, share and converse but the inherent digital distance can have the handy side effect of creating argument and tension under the guise of discussion and debate.

By “reasonable advocates of film” we mean this: film as a medium of expression is an individual choice and absolutely 100% not suitable for each and every photographic endeavour.

We believe that while film remains far superior to digital photography in many ways, digital is also far superior in others. Each opinion, use-case and preference should be respected.

Although EMULSIVE is purely focused on film photography from an editorial standpoint, we respect that many of our readers (and featured interviewees) use digital cameras – so do we (mostly for shots of food/feet for Instagram)."

Thank you

Thank you

Welcome you guys, glad you liked it!

Wow, thanks for sharing the site, Ranchu.

It's a huge labour of love and always make me happy to hear people find it useful.

If you want to learn a bit more, you can read my interview with myself (yes, it's all a little meta): emulsive.org/interviews/i-am-emulsive-and-this-is-why-i-shoot-film

(number 135 since starting them back in July 2015)

There's new articles nearly every day and it's a very mixed bag of reviews, thought pieces, (my own) photography and interviews.

Thanks again,

EM
