yes. you just need a 400>800 cable. I do this all the time with external drives.

YES! I think you saw my previous thread about having to get the white macbook instead of the aluminum because of the aluminum not having firewire. Well now apple has changed their entire laptop lineup and there is a $1200 aluminum Macbook Pro with firewire 800!!!!!!!!!
