My Coolscan V, is refusing to scan B&W negs. As soon as I attempt to load the strip, the scanner spits it right back out. The negs don't look out of the ordinary and more or less well-exposed. Anyone experience this behavior before? Software is Vuescan.

Thanks for the link. That all seems to be a bit beyond my expertise but seems a likely explanation. Will try to remove the SA-21 and blow it out good.

You are welcome. I need to get mine fixed as well.

Try turning the negative around or flipping it over. So far I've only encountered this occasionally on my LS-2000 and that usually fixes the problem, but sometimes I'm resolved to using the FH-3 and feeding by hand.

Done all that and it makes no difference. Which leads me to believe I have no idea what's going on. If it's related to the sensors, then why doesn't it act the same with color negatives? I'm gonna try to blow out the SA-21 with some air and see what effect that has. If it still fails to work, I can always use the flatbed scanner although I detest the Epson holder.
