Coolscan V (LS-50) + film thickness + feed problems

Need some help with emulsion thickness and the Coolscan V.

For years, I have been using TriX and afga 100 with the coolscan - no problem.

Just trying to run some arista legacy pro 400 (= trix) now and the film is rejected by the sa-21 feeder.

Still can feed original trix or agfa w/o problem.

Same problem with arista premium 400.

There is some notes about problems with Efke films as well.

Is there a workaround?
Can it be solved?
Anybody using Arista with coolscans?

Scanning now with my dismal epson 3170 flatbed...

No.
I tried 15 different strips from 2 Arista 400 films. Recut a bunch of them. They are just as straight as a bunch of other negs that feed w/o a problem.

I am lost.
