Hello all, I just want to throw this out and see what kind of information is available about the CT-1 chassis.

When my Phoenix (Voigtlander Bessaflex look-alike) jammed, and I turned it over, I was surprised to see the bottom of my Cosina-made Bessa R!

Since then I have learned that my (long tossed) FM-10, and the OM2000 that I may buy are on the same chassis that dates back to the chassis' namesake Cosina CT-1.

Being that I already own a broken CT-1, and I expect my Bessa R to break soon, I accepting that this is where I might cut my repair teeth, but I am not having luck finding specific repair information.

It might be interesting to learn about the internal similarities and variations across the CT-1 family, so as to possibly swap in better parts from donor cameras such as, say, metal gears.

The shutter assemblies are interesting to me too. After my OM-1 started capping, I looked into the possibility of home-repairs and got a pretty nasty shock; those curtains are complicated. I now think that electronic speed control may be a good thing, but then I am still totally inexperienced in repair. (I know, I should start w/ an Argus C-3.)

Along these lines, if I decide to take the plunge to start repairing (rather than just accumulating broken CT-1s), then a survey of necessary tools might be useful.

And finally, I always keep in mind the possibility of creating an "open source" design as I suggested with my OpenEOS proposal (which actually became a google-sponsored sofware project, but was quickly orphaned). Maybe the CT-1 chassis could host the OpenEOS mount, as both seem to be the ubiquitous choices in their respective areas.

Maybe this is the wrong place. Except the bessa R, all the other cameras you mention are not rangefinders so a rangefinder forum maybe isn't the best place to get an answer. Try over on Kyphoto or MF Lenses or Manual Focus Forum.

I was afraid something like this would happen.

(This is a technicality, what bureaucracy commonly uses when it wants to take your money; nearly everybody here uses SLR cameras. What "monopix" does not understand is that there is nothing to gain from this kind of strategy. Rebutting, them, however, is a complete waste of time but, anyway...)

Not only is the Cosina CT-1 chassis significant in terms of rangefinder photography in that it is the chassis for the most significant current rangenfinder users, a similar camera, the Minolta 7sii likewise defines a in important rangefinder chassis also from series of Cosina-made fixed-lens rangefinders that also includes the Vivitar 35ES. The 7sii is unique in that it has manual exposure control, but lacked exposure information especially in the viewfinder.

The implication for the 7sii chassis, as with the CT-1 chassis, is that there are many parts cameras still available, and that the chassis might even have a future next to the CT-1. I wonder where the loopholes are in the IP laws concerning camera design -- probably the same as car design.

And you Sir are a complete ******.

What exactly you think I was trying to gain eludes me.

I was trying to be helpful in suggesting why you hadn't got an answer. But as you clearly seem to know better than anyone else, you can be sure I won't bother to try and be helpful to you in the future.
