Hi folks,
I promised to post a couple of shots taken off a test roll with this camera, obtained here courtesy of another RFFer. The camera arrived with rangefinder needing adjustment and a rather large white paint-looking mark on a rear element, but I can't see where it shows up in any of the pictures. You probably won't be able to tell from these bad scans and scaled down pics, but here goes anyway. I was actually impressed with the metering on this camera, and some of my shots were nice and sharp, although others were not and some shots were focused a few feet behind where I was trying to focus. Maybe it was just me having trouble with the rangefinder not matching up right.

Nice shots Sooner. I had to go to ebay to find out what a 35 xf looks like. Recently I decided to (re)explore compact rangefinders, and picked up an Olympus 35RC. About the same vintage as your Rollei. V. fun to shoot. Are you going to have your Rollei's rangefinder fixed and the lens CLAd?

Mr. B, thanks for commenting. Not sure about the CLA. I've got a roll of Kodachrome in the camera now, as I feel it needs another test of the focusing and lens quality. Once I get this roll developed, I'll decide whether to have it fixed or just give it away. Have fun with the Oly RC, I've got one and it's awesome, although in that genre I probably most prefer my Canon GIII QL17.

Ambitious, but rubbish
You'll hate it, give it away!

Don't bother to shoot any more rolls, you'll hate this camera and you should give it away ASAP! Just let me know and I'll send you my address!
Seriously, though, I've been wanting a Rollei 35 for a while now and have been scanning eBay religiously for the last week or two. I considered the XF, but after reading some mixed comments about it decided I wouldn't get one unless it's really cheap. Besides, what I really want is one of the orginal 35s, or one of the close variants, but I have absolutely no money to spend! Anyway, in my readings on the web, it seems like it's a fairly simple matter to adjust the rangefinder, just peel back a little of the leatherette and you'll find two screws. If you do a quick search, you should be able to find more on it.
Good luck, and should you decide to get rid of it, I'll gladly take it off your hands!

I like using my XF35. The Sonnar lens has a fast 2.3 aperture, and it produces very nice looking images. The camera is fully automatic, and this is why most Rollei users do not accept it as a family member of Rollei.
