thelovecollect: I love the tonal range in this image. In fact the subject matter is the kind of thing I love but somehow never think to capture. The whiteness of the board works well sitting in shadow. The human element is needed I think but could be less distracting (less DOF). Finally the only thing I would want to change is to have slightly more space at the bottom of the sign so it feels more 'grounded'.

Nico: I love the variation in the childrens faces. The fact that some are aware of the camera and others aren't. There is a lot of interesting 'narrative' that a viewer could decide for themselves here. The boy on the left looks slightly awkward and seems the odd one out. Perhaps it would have been nice to see the feet of the second boy from the left. Otherwise a tighter crop on the childrens faces would have really pushed the character of this image even further.

RaidAmin: I love that the texture of the sea and sand merge together so well to create an almost seamless backdrop, the limited tonal range helps too. I wonder how the image would look cropped at the edge to make the subjects less centred and maybe cropped at the bottom too to allow the tide mark to act as a visual hook to guide the viewers eyes.[/QUOTE]
==> I deliberately took this photo with my children in the center and with the environment being the bigger factor. I take many photos of my two girls, so I must experiment to get something new out each time. The white beaches on a day with white sky make the photo very monochromatic and abstract somehow. Oh well.
