Critique please, so that I might learn and improve

This is a much better disussion than "what WhizBang zoom should I buy next?" I am enjoying it and taking notes.

More important than "vision" is the camera bag. I've settled on a Domke 802 (which is a bit bigger than the 803 :) and smaller than the 804. Odd numbering.

:D

I got a small Kipling photo backpack that is absoluely great for carrying two RF cameras and 3 lenses. The backpack is very small and light, and it allows me to "forget" that I am carrying cameras! It does not appear as a camera bag, and I use it almost every day now.

I was joking, Raid.

Colin,

Actually, in my case I am not joking. A small and light backpack opened up possibilities for me.

This digression into camera bags is the funniest thing I've seen on RFF in a long time.

I'm sure I could make better photos if I ordered a new Crumpler Big Guy Express Lite (?) in dark red with gray trim.

Jon,
I doubt it somehow.
Yes, the regression into camera bag discusision, following some deep ideas on photography looks strange.

Wayne,

I like the flower, but I'm a sucker for wide-open close ups of flowers. It's nicely done. This one is my favorite.

I'm not sure how I feel about the horizon shot. I take a lot of pictures like that, but I'm always disappointed with them. This isn't a bad picture (I'm sure I could do no better), but it does not grab me.

For the first one, I think it would benefit from Capa's maxim -- get closer! I think you're a little too far back -- again, that's one of my own faults.

Keep shooting. I think the only thing that really matters is that you are enjoying what you do. Thanks for sharing your images.

Here's one of my dock a bit closer. I was at a disadvantage: I was standing on my neighbor's dock. Getting closer involved getting wet. And swimming the 'gator.

Thanks again for Y'all's help.
