it's a bit embarassing, and just my disability to do any better, since I have gotten that far I better follow through and post about it here too:
Yesterday I started a crowdfunding campaign to help a poor woman who had a stroke but no means, and here in Vietnam no help from institutions, to finance her immediate future. She must recover to be able to work again in the future, otherwise how to live, but let's at least give her some hope, thank you.

Crowdfunding is tricky. I've done a small share of fundraising for social projects in Latin America over the years. I've actually been working on an upcoming campaign to build a school in Honduras for this coming year. It's super hard to get people to care about something that you're passionate about, even if it's something as clear cut as helping someone in need.

A few tips:

A video is really the way to get things rolling. People need to see images and videos

Social media is your easiest free tool. Spread the word, and keep pushing. Don't slow down.

"Ask for money, get advice. Ask for advice, get money." This is a great way to start conversations with people without putting them on the defensive about money.

Finally, if you want to get super-tactical, there's always the Tim Ferriss solution:

Maybe a different campaign site that offers rewards for donation amounts? You could sell limited run prints or something of that nature.

I must admit I have not been following through as I should have. When I had visited Mrs. Phuong in the hospital, when saying goodbye, had held on too long on my hand, as if saying that I was her only, slim hope. That was just a few days after the news of an old Mexican ice cream seller having received various 100.000s USD from the very same crowdfunding site. So I decided to give it a shot.
I failed! I should have gone back to the hospital, taken more photos and best even a video. Not so easy in a room cramped with some 10 beds and patients and with as many family members living next to them on the floor.. With their permission and big luck that setting could yield photos that might impress though!
Not sure yet if I shall get wits and energies together to give it another go, your kind help does give me a push, thank you!
