Alot more fun in Costa Rica.
I have spent two weeks in both. Costa Rica was very enjoyable but I am going back to Cuba.

Visiting Cuba should be less Cowboy style as compared to visiting Iraq. The trip to Iraq may not guarantee a return trip.

I completely fail to see the relevence of comparing Cuba with Iraq.
Cuba was without a doubt one of the safest countries I have ever travelled in. I felt completely safe in Cuba.
Alot more fun in Costa Rica.
I can see where you're coming from, but its kind of an apples and oranges comparison IMO.
No doubt Costa Rica has a well developed tourist infrastructure with all the modern conveniences. Cuba is fascinating precisely because it is not developed.
