Cultural Icons -- Post your country's cultural icons

Lovely David. I understand the problem as you can't have your Bara Brith and photograph it! Proper food.

Thanks.

Would you believe I have the same problem with Selkirk Bannocks, Tea Cakes, Scones and Balm Brack? They just don't last five minutes and then there's bread pudding...

Regards, David

You had to mention bread pudding, and at this hour.

I too suffer similarly, with the addition of lardy cake, one of the lightest and healthiest of treats. And, of course, the saffron bun, which I hope to have when in Cornwall tomorrow.

Now you see him...

...now you don't! Well, maybe you can see him playing peek-a-boo with the stone lantern.

Though I was born in Australia I am half Hungarian and from that side I am claiming the right to post a few old scanned film images from a trip there in the late 1990's to show the cultural icon that is Budapest and the Danube. 🙂

Ontario, Canada's flower, "The Woodland Tillium". A delicate rhizome, picking the flower can kill the plant or leave it dormant for years. As kids, we were taught to look but not touch. This one's from across the continent in British Columbia.

Very cool. When was this shot? Is The Stone Pony still open?

This was a couple of weeks ago when I was in the area on business. It was a sucky day, the only afternoon I had free. Yes, I assume it's still open. I know the arcade across the street and the Wonder Bar up the street are.

This was, BTW, shot on the new Ektachrome, but I did not toot my horn about it because of the dreary look. I had the remainder of the roll from a photo walk I took in better weather a few days before.

Thanks for the info. 🙂
