Peter,
Creative Camera was a great magazine and particularly formative for a number of us young (at the time it started as Camera Owner) British photographers. Then the photographer Jurgen Schadeberg was then the assistant editor, but it had the odd article from Bill Jay from time to time. It got better under Colin Osman as publisher, with Bill and later Pete Turner editing but unfortunately IMHO greatly declined after the British Arts Council took over funding and Pete Turner left.
I still have all the early copies from the Camera Owner days (1965) through till the end of 1986 and they are still worth reading.
The other great British photography magazine that preceded Creative Camera was "Photography" under the editorship of Norman Hall. I have a few copies but luckily am not quite old enough to say it was an influence at the time of publication. 🙂
