The 16-28mm Leica finder (Universal Wideangle Viewfinder M) is a bit more elegantly designed (starting with not making you stick your eye up to a tube), has brilliant projected framelines, and has an integrated bubble level that you can see. It also takes R diopters. You can get it for $599 in EX+ at KEH - that's about $70 more than the CV finder.

Just made the decision to buy this zoom view finder. And I must say: I like it. I can use it instead of the seperate 15mm C.V. VF, 21mm Leica VF, 17mm u4/3 Oly VF (35mm), FSU 35mm Jupiter-12 and handy for my 28mm Elmarit.

Very smart is also the build in dioptry correction. I got it new for Eur. 370,- incl. sending over from UK.

I disagree. I always considered the Leica wide angle a dog of a viewfinder design - from the day it was introduced. I happened to be at Solms. Big, Ugly, Clumsy, and very Expensive new.
BTW, the CV zoomfinder has been discontinued for lack of sales in this brave new "mirrorless" world. So get them while you still can.

I was already afraid of this, hence the clearance and this lower price.
I am sorry Stephen that Post packages from USA is extremely expensive and in entrance of the EU put on extra costs for import duties and costs for customs.
it is a pity that such a nice product is only in production for a very few years. Indeed: A brave new mirrorless world ..........

Why would you want to use one when you could use an EVF or just the back screen and see what your camera is seeing?

Fortunately I have an M7 but with a 15mm, 21mm and 28mm lens. And that delay is pretty big on the Oly E-P1 but with my optical VF I can see what I am doing. Without and on a sunny day looking on the LCD screen it is just a gamble what will be on the photo.
It is my only digital camera and I do not want to change every year of cameras at all.

It is really a nice VF. What a nice change of my CV 15mm, Elmarit 21mm and Elmarit 28mm. I can only recommend this VF when you have some really WA lenses.

In the mean time l have sold my Leica 21mm and C.V. 15mm V.F. for just over Eur 210,- so the change did not cost much money at all. In the practical way the zoom V.F. is really a good solution when you have (to many ?? 😀 ) W.A. R.F. lenses.
