A question for those of you who use the CV 15 on a panny G1. What is the advantage of using this lens versus the kit lens, besides slightlhy smaller size. Is the picture quality any better.

I have used the 15f4.5 on my G1. Works very well and I suspect that the image quality is better. I have the "standard" lens, but i haven't really used it much. With the VC adapter there is simply too many lenses to try! The "standard" lens is not bad, but I prefer fixed focus lenses anyway - the 15 becomes a credible 30mm f4.5 on the G1.

I have been sticking various lenses on the G1 (two a day). Today was Nokton 35f1.2 and I also discovered that my Viso III works with it!

I have used a plethora of rangefinder glass on the G1 and I find no advantage over the 14-45 kit lens. I was hoping I would see some differences, but I have not noticed any qualitative difference at all. It could be the chip. The kit lens, while being damn convenient, is actually quite good. There are plenty of reviews of the kit lens on the web and all of them rate this lens quite high.

About the only time I use the kit lens is at the 14mm setting. Unless you already have a CV 15, the kit lens is hard to beat at 15mm.
I find all sorts of advantages with various lenses over the kit lens...namely speed, speed, and speed. 🙂 And of course, various lenses have their own unique rendering and character.
The kit lens is VERY slow at 45mm (f5.6); there are lots of lenses in the 40-50mm range that are far faster, not only for shooting in low light, but to use selective focus. (At the 35mm setting, it's f5.5.)

I am sure the insurance adjusters love the kit lens...t' f/5.6 shoot'rs dream...
The CV 15 needs to be stopped down to f/8 to get comparable image guality🙂

I am excitedly waiting for this,too. Unfortunately, it doesn't have image stabilization. Why not?

I bought a G1 based on the possibility of using Leica mount lenses on it. I admit it is fun to be able to focus a CV 25 through the lens instead of scale focusing but soon the novelty wears off. While focusing via live view is quite handy and at times more accurate than actually on an M like with the Noctilux there is no way it can take the place of an M. Shooting portraits with it a yes but street photography a no, at least for me. The weak link to this system is still the 2x crop factor which turns my lenses into normal and tele. I do find the kit zoom very good and look forward to a fast prime soon.
