Love my little CV21. Tiny, sharp, great ergonomics, etc.

However, I'm curious about the 25 FOV as a replacement for both the 21 and the 28 focal lenght.

I'm wondering if any CV Skopar 25mm users are interested in a temporary swap. Lenght of time can be whater suits you best, but I'm thinking a month or so. I lend you my 21 and matching viewfinder, you do the same and then we mail them back (or meet up, if you are close).

I realize there's a strong element of trust involved in the swap, so I'd rather do this with established forum members, and we can discuss additional assurances, if you'd like.

If you are in LA you can borrow one of my 25mm's. Swing by my gallery.
I already have the 21 so no need to swap.

(sorry no shipping, had a bad experience w/ an 'established' member here)

you could paypal him the value of the lens, pay the shipping both ways, send it back to him when done. then receive a paypal refund upon receipt. a nice secure way to "borrow" a lens. probably $30 or so for an extended test, not too bad. if you love it enough to keep it, don't send it back. 😀

25/21

25/21

the 25/4 is a sweet lens. i'm on my 3rd or 4th as a result of parting with the previous ones i've had; i keep coming back to it.

as for 21s, i originally thought that would be way too wide for me...until i tried a kobalux, which i loved, and also foolishly let go. then i tried the voigtlander 21/4 and enjoyed the fov. at the time i was using it with film. i preferred the rendering of the kobalux but enjoyed how compact the voigtlander was.

next, i moved to a elmarit 21, and have been thrilled with it in all respects, even though much larger than the 21/4.

i think you'll find the 25/4 to be a beauty.

I thought about the very same question some time back, and acquired a Snapshot Skopar to see if it would work as a 21/28 replacement. My conclusion was that, for me anyway, it does not. The lens is very capable, but I like 21 and 28 more separately. FWIW, I find the rendering of the CV 25/4 is a bit too "modern" for my tastes, on film anyway; it currently lives on my X-E1 (~42mm focal length equivalent, which is fairly useful).

Looks like buy, try, resell might be the route I have to go, but it was worth a try.

Thanks again for the offer Huss!

No prob!

What's interesting is there is a Snapshot Skopar (does not have rf coupling but focus detents) on ebay that essentially comes with a free Bessa L film body for $319 shipped.
It includes the 25mm finder.

A killer deal IMO if you do not need the RF coupling. This lens is the LTM mount, but a standard adapter would allow for it to be used on M mount cameras.
