Hi Guys
Have anyone shot both the CV 25mm f/4 color skopar (RF) and the Zeis ZF 25mm (AIS mount)?
If so how do they compare? Can the Skopar out perform a lens twice the price or does quality follow the money? I know one is a RF lens and the other is for a SLR but I'm curious
Kind regards
Søren

Not quite, but sorta close. I've currently got a CV Snapshot Skopar 25/f4 and a Zeiss ZM 25/2.8 Biogon. The Biogon is better than the CV at f/4 and f/5.6, but not by 3 or 4 times (which is the difference in price). The Biogon is also very good at f/2.8. The CV is really very good, considering the price.

I'd expect the ZM 25 Biogon to be better than the ZF 25 Distagon.

The Biogon is supposed to be one of the sharpest lenses available. The Skopar is pretty sharp and very contrasty, but probably well behind the Zeiss and Leica options. You can find a review of the 25/4 (compared to others) here: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/rd-1-lens.shtml

One great thing about the 25/4 is the size. It's about as small as a lens can be while still being comfortable to use. It also vignettes a lot less than the CV 21/4.

I have both. The Zeiss is superb, but the little CV is no slouch. Either one, you can't go wrong.

I have the 35 skopar and the 35 summicron IV, the zeiss biogon is on the way so when I get it, if this thread is still active I'll try to post some comparisons. I can say that I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the skopar, especially on the R-D1, it gives great blacks and whites, good contrast and sharpness. The summicron surpasses it in the range of mid-tones produced, and of course, with a bit better bokeh. But for the price and size, the skopar cannot be beat. Bob.
