CV 28/35 mini finder

I am considering this and would like opinions from users:
- how hard is it to look through it?
- brightness, frame accuracy and parallax?
- how does it compare to the CV 28mm finder?

It's not hard to look through and it is fairly bright - the appeal is in the size and versatility having the 28/35 options.

I had one for a while and I think I sold it to someone here - I think you'd be happy with it.
 
go for the regular VC 28 or 35, the 28/35 is not as large as the regular finder, I also have trouble put into the shoes (M3).

I liked it but sold it because I like the CV 28 finder better on the M3. On the IIIf with color skopar the mini finder was phenomenal because the whole package was small.

I've got one and it is great on the RD1. I leave it on all the time and use the 28mm frameline for my 21mm Kobalux and the 35mm frameline for the 28mm Nokton. Don't ask me why this works. Thats on another thread.

If anyone has a used one I would be interested in buying it to glue to my LX1. The damn thing doesnt have a finder!

Problem with all finders for me is the huge amount of barrel-distortion ... making it impossible to keep lines straight ... so an external finder for me is useless for architecture.
That said ... the cv28/ 35 is tiny, bright and well build .... it would stay on my camera if i did not wear glasses ... problem is the finder is metal and scratches glasses .. so i had to change it for a Leica 28 finder which is a lot bulkier in the hotshoe.

I have also found out, that it almost impossible to keep lines straight with tiny CV 28/35. :( Maybe a CV 28 is better for that. Although I don't shoot landscapes or architecture so much, but that's only thing what disturbs me in 28/35.
 
It's great. I love it's small size. Maginification seems to be .5 (half life-size).
I only have one minor annoyance with it. The finder image is almost square. So you see plenty of space above and below the frame lines, but with glasses I have trouble seeing right and left side at the same time.

For practical shooting purposes, the entire field of view seems to be about 24/25mm. Parallax isn't too much of an issue with these focal lengths. It's a straight up-and-down tilt that's marked on the finder frame etchings.
 
I've got one..
BEST FINDER EVER for the IIIc imho - looks and works well with my 35mm f3.5 summaron.

The bright lines are clear and easy to see (as long as you're not wearing glasses) and the whole look/feel of it is great. I prefer smaller finders than the bigger 15mm/21mm style finders; that's just me.. but the small 28/35 finder cuts a low profile on the camera so it "suits it" :D

Ray, you're gonna love it. It's a great little finder. Unbelieveably bright and clear. I use mine all the time instead of my standard size 28 finder.
 
nice little finder, solid built, frame-lines are as actuate as an external finder can be, bright and sharp image, the rubber rear protector on mine came off and lost, I also use the whole frame as a 24mm finder (close again), very tight in the shoe (M-series) which is good as it does not come off by itself, anyway it stays on the camera all the time.
 
Is this finder likely to be a problem for a glasses-wearer (in terms of seeing the framelines, I'm not bothered with the scratching issue mentioned)?

I'm thinking of buying the Ricoh GR-D for my Dad but he's getting on and pretty long-sighted, and I like the idea of this minifinder more than the optional one that comes with the GR-D (too big, as is standard VC 28 finder...)

- bright. guess i'm quite easy on frame accuracy, but i have no complaints.
- can't say.

what i can say, is that it has little (or no) eye relief, and i don't wear glasses. barrel distortion is in there too, not as evil as the 21 finder, but don't try to line up any buildings with it.

i initally ordered the 28finder, got this by mistake i guess. the obvious plus is the size, but like i said i haven't had the chance to fondle the 28, so i can't compare. would be interested in knowing different magnification, eye relief, barrel distoriton etc... (maybe i should read the whole thread to see if someone posted it already ,-)
