Had this lens for a little while and use it on an M8.2 - sharp wide open and an absolute bargain if you can find one used.

Biggest niggle (and confirmed by others) is the loose/soft aperture ring that is easily nudged when using the focus ring. Lost a few wide open shots having previously nudged the ring up to 2.8 and beyond!

Resolved the problem by using two (approx 30mm diameter/1.5mm thick) black o rings stretched over the barrel on the lens side (and close up) to the aperture ring. One ring does not hug the focus ring quite tight enough, where as two together seem to do the trick. The focus ring then is damped nicely by the rubber rings - which are barely noticeable. The indicator line is still visible as it is longer than the two stretched o rings side by side.

Problem solved by a trip to the hardware store and the purchase of a mixed bag of o rings for just a couple of pounds!

Just a quick update - have used the lens a number of times over the last couple of days changing the aperture frequently. The aperture ring remains nicely damped - the two o rings appear not to move - and not once have I nudged the aperture whilst focusing.

Totally changed my trust of this lens - I now can concentrate more on framing etc without constantly checking the aperture setting.

I've used flat hair bands for quite some time now – cheaper and easily found while "on the road". Great ideas think alike!! cheers, sam
