Just bought a used CV50/2.5 that turned up in the post today. Although it was described as 100% mechanically perfect, the aperture ring seems loose or worn with play in both directions. But still works ok. The ring on my CV35/2.5 has no play whatsoever. Is this common for the 50 and is it easily fixed? Thanks

Don't know if this is any help, but, I have the same lens, and do not have this issue.

Is there a tiny setscrew (or a few) on the aperture ring that could be tightened (carefully)?

So is mine, and it's been knocked around a bit.

speaking of the little 50...there is a summarit 50/2.5 for sale locally at a decent price that caught my eye...so i went to flickr and looked at shots from the leica and the cv lens and decided there wasn't enough difference to warrant a change...

I think it's the Summarit that has something to prove in that particular contest Joe ... certainly with regard to build quality.

FrankS, there is a minute crosshead screw on the ring but I haven't got a screwdriver to fit. I have to see a repair guy with something else so I'll drop it in at the same time. Its good to know its not normal!

i didn't realize they had a knock against them for build quality...they look sturdy enough.
