I have a CV 75/2.5 and I just love its overall performance, especially the way it renders flesh tones in color portraits. In your opinion, which of the CV 35mm's has similar rendition/performance? One person told me it is the 35/1.7. Anxious to hear your inputs. Thanks.

I concur with your associate's observation. Ultron 35mm/1.7 has similar contrast rendition as the Color Heliar 75mm/2.5.

Hi Peter,

Would you say that it has lower or higher contrast than the 35/2.5? The review on luminous landscape suggests that the 2.5 had jsut slightly higher contrast.

Ben

I have both the 35/1.7 and the 75/2.5. THey are such a good match that I sometimes have a hard time remembering which one I used on some shots. Only the compression gives it away on close shots. If I use the 75 for distant subjects which are pretty much landscapes, it looks like I walked closer with my 35. Check my gallery for a few examples.

As for the contrast of Ultron and Color Skopar, subjectively the Skopar is slightly more contrasty (when using C41 B&W) but the Ultron is more sharper and make human subjects more 'alive'.

OT, Marc your pictures are one important reason I recently bought the 1.7/35. I hope to do as well as you someday with my new Bessa. When I have the funds I will add the CV 75mm, as it is a fav focal length for more "compressed" candids.
