Hello guys, I am new here.

Today I went to buy the CV 75/2.5 lens at a camera store in Hong Kong, the lens have plenty of dust between the lens. Then I asked the shopkeeper to show me another one to see if there is dust inside the lens.

The store keeper show me another one, again and again, totally I checked 5 new ones, all of then are full of dust!!!! One is even at the early age of fogging!
The shop is an authorized dealer of CV!

The shopkeeper kept telling me that dust is very common for lenses, just pick one with less amount of dust would be ok~ I checked the one with less dust between the lenses, still got over 10 dust spots! So I didnt buy the lens and left the shop!

I would like to ask if this lens 75/2.5 is prone to dust or just somehow the lens there have problems? it's an authorized dealer of CV..... ~ 🙁

I have owned 2 CV 75mm lenses ( I traded a black one for a chrome one straight up). Both were crystal clear, no dust.

Do they ship the lenses with styrofoam inserts in the box? If the lenses have been sitting for a while, the syrofoam will outgas and create haze on the interior elements.

I dont know about their shipping, but I think all of their cv75/2.5 have serious dust problem.
most of them are dust, not haze, just like old lenses.

I am just wondering if I were looking at old Russian lenses.

Maybe the store is just very dusty inside? I recall a camera store in downtown Seattle years ago named Clyeds... everything in that store was dusty! They had a lot of Leica gear, all covered with dust. Otherwise a nice place with interesting stuff.

I remember buying a cv 21 there before, the lens is clear with no dust.

but why cv75 so dusty. I dont know where to buy it now as I dont want to buy thru. the Internet

I got mine -- dust free -- from Dodd Camera & Video in Cleveland, OH

Sounds like your local store's batch of 75mm Heliars went through a very dusty environment at some time.

I use R2
anyone focus with difficulties ?

I'm trying to figure out where to buy that lens. or get myself a CV28/3.5 or ZM28/2.8
I have a 50, 35 and 21 now, should i go for 28 instead?

CV28 or ZM28 ?
I know CV28 is good for the value, costs only half of a ZM28...

but does ZM28 worth for its price?

Thanks, I've checked that out. But it only costs me US$257 to get a new one in Hong Kong.

really bargaining price, I'm tempted.
but just wondering if I really need that lens.

21mm, 28mm, sounds really close to me.

With shorter lenses, every mm of focal length makes an ever larger difference in angle of view. Angle of view for 21mm = 90 degrees. For 28mm it's 75 degrees. For the 75mm Heliar it's 32 degrees. 🙂

21 & 28 are not that close.
for me, it's a whole 'nother world.

Agreed; the 21 is entering the world of the super-wides where you have to be especially conscious of your corners (& where your fingers and feet are!), and step forward seriously to avoid having your subject appear tiny and surrounded by stuff you want to crop off! There's a special skill to be developed with the 21 I think, to avoid that cliche of exaggerated perspective, or at least of having that dominate the picture, and yet still fill the frame with an interesting composition.

The following may or may not be a great example of the 90° view, but it's the one that came to mind. 🙂
