cv 75 or 90

Never tried the 90 fl but it would be good for different applications. I've been using a 75 as my main lens for a while now and it makes a nice 'gentlemanly' 50. I bought it thinking it would be the longest focal length I could use on a 'one camera, one lens' basis. I couldn't see myself using a 90 this way.

I like how with even only a moderate 2.5 one can throw the background in portraits and stuff. I'm often surprised at how accurate my focusing needs to be with this lens. This photo I actually nailed the focus. 😎 Summarit @2.5

Let me add too how much better the 75 became once I added a separate finder. Having a dedicated 75 finder for this lens made composing sooooo much easier.
 
With the RD1's crop factor and the 75 being a full stop faster, should be a no brainer ... The 75 is also smaller. Got other 43mm filter'ed lenses, Joe ?

I have too many lenses between 75 & 90. 4 in all. I keep telling myself to sell the CV 75mm/2.5. Then this thread comes along and makes me want to keep it.

Strike fast and I might be convinced to sell my "looks like new & comes with everything a new one comes with + a 43mm UV filter" 75/2.5 lens. It's silver.
 
I really like my my75/2.5 for reportage kind of stuff in conjunction with a 25mm on my bessa l.

As mentioned above it's a lot like a long 50-- it's just right for situations where you want a little bit of extra reach/and or a little bit of perspective compression but are working too close for a long lens. The r-series also has those great dedicated 75mm frame lines too.

It has great contrast-- it's no crazy sharp wide open but for people pix that's not necessarily a bad thing
 
I spent yesterday in the fog with Bubba and the 75mm lens. Not once did the silver finish ruin a photo. Bubba didn't object either.

I will develop the roll tonight or tomorrow. My last roll of Delta 100. I hope this roll changes my mind about Delta 100.

Good luck in your search joe. FWIW: The 75 is lighter than a DR Summicron and not much bigger. I hardly noticed it on the M5.
 
I like the 75 for size and speed. On the 90 side I never look/tried the CV because it was too slow for my style/taste. Loved the bigger and faster stuff (Nikkors & 'Crons) and ended up using a 105/2.5 when ever I swung that way. I had an older Leica 90/4 which I loved for size though not the sharpest.

I'd go 75.

decided on the 75 and am working things out with wayne.

this should give me a kit that includes the following focal lengths for my rd1 -
12/15/25/28/40/50/75

if i can't get a decent image with all that gear then there is no hope!!

I've tried neither. But have the 90/2.8 Hexanon. A gem of a lens. Can't quite understand that a 90 can be this compact. Build is that little bit better than my CV lenses.

Edit: Forgot to mention I like the FOV the 90 gives, both for portraits and landscapes. Is now my second favourite lens.

That isn't fair. I currently have the following under evaluation: Nikkor 85/2.0, Leitz 90/2.8 Elmarit & 90/2.8 Elmarit-M. I plan to keep only 1. Please don't make me add a 4th lens to the mix.

Very nice photo no matter what lens made it.
