This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find out, even using Advanced Search engine.

I understand that most of the CV lenses are "rangefinder coupled".

Does this mean that they are coupled only with the Bessa body, or are they somehow able to couple with FSU rangefinder cameras (Zorki, Kiev, etc.).

It would be nice to use the CV lenses on the FSU camera that I am expecting soon (Zorki 4k) with the ability to couple the rangefinder to the lens, but perhaps I'm dreaming? In fact, I would assume that the term "coupled" means that there is a proprietary mechanism in the Bessa body that couples the CV lenses?

Thanks in advance for any information.

If you are refering to a Leica thread mount lens it will couple with the rangefinder on an FSU camera.

The focusing distance may not be exact though.

Thanks so much, Fedzilla Bob! If I may hound you with a question related to your statement about the focusing distance not being exact...is there a way to compute the difference in focusing distance so that I can compensate in the field?

By the way, your "Just A Touch" image in your gallery is beautiful piece of work. Particularly striking are the verticals in the image, almost dividing it into separate little images within the overall image. Nice work, man.

Thank you, FrankS and Kim.

I certainly would expect that in my predominantly landscape shooting, and using tight apertures (f:8, f:11, f:22) for more-or-less "infinity" shots, there wouldn't be too much of a problem then. I'm assuming that the longer depth of field would ameliorate the focus issue somewhat.

Kim, you mentioned that it wouldn't be difficult to correct, if there was a problem. What would be the mechanism whereby I would correct it? Is there a mechanical solution, or would I simply need to do some testing at different distances, and just extrapolate the corrections "on paper" from the comparisons?

And...are you the same Kim that I am reading about on here who has done CLA work on Russian cameras? I will receive the Zorki 4k in about a month, and probably will immediately send it for CLA so that I can get good use out of it.

Forgive my questions. I am new here, so haven't had the time yet to search all threads for pertinent information. I am excited to be starting my new venue of rangefinder work to augment my medium format work. Quite a departure!

I think that the distances have been published on Dan Stella's site.Idon't have URL on hand. The solutions aren't too dificult to perform.

I think the simplest is to add a thin shim under the lens mounting flange to achieve the proper distance.

But then again I haven't tried it with a leica lens or a canon LTM onmyFSU cameras. I did the opposite with a J9 on a Bessa R and likedtheresults.

My photo that you mentioned was shot with the Bessa and a J8.

Thanks very much for the compliment, I still find that image to very "tender." I was very lucky to be there for that moment.
