cv lenses on the fujis?!

i know some of you guys are using m mount lenses on your fujis...who is using cv lenses and which ones?
i have an m mount>fuji x mount adapter that i should give a try...

thinking about a 40 which would give me a 60 fov...i always liked that on the rd1...

help a newly employed buyer out...
 
Joe, I was using the 40/1.4 SC for awhile. Excellent image quality all-round. And using it with the Fuji adapter makes accessing the manual focus lens menu a one-button operation.. nice! And the 15/4.5 makes a superb 23mm.

I sold the 40 just so I could try a 28 (42mm equiv.).. a focal length that better 'fits my eye'... maybe. Anyway I now have the 28/1.9. Nothing to report yet, but I expect it'll be excellent like all the other CV lenses.

I sold the 15, but I may get it again if the Nikkor 24/2.8 + Metabones Speed Booster doesn't work like I hope it will.
 
Joe, I am using CV 15 and CV 40, in no small part because of Jamie's recommendation. I am satisfied with the image quality and by using Hawk adapter with helicoid, I can focus really close like DSLR lenses.

Having said that, I do miss the AF of the Fuji's sometime. And with the 15, I do feel the speed is what makes me think whether I should change.

For manual focusing, they are a joy to use, especially with the short throw focus and the scale on lens. I can preset the lens to ballpark distance before taking the camera to my eye.

Let me know if you have more questions. And I still have the XF14 I got from you. Need to decide what to prune one of these days.
 
I've used the Nokton 1.5/50 and 1.2/35.
The 1.5 50 looks great. the 35 is a PIA to foci and not better than the Fuji 35.

As far as 40mm I have used the M rokkor a few times…. meh

They perform great but I just don't like the focussing even now with peaking.
The Fuji AF lenses are just plain better. I hope fuji or maybe zeiss brings a 50mm.
Just as you (Joe) like the 40 converted to 60efv I like the 50 converted to 75efv.
The 56 will do nicely as well if it's not too big.

I have used the CV 40/1.4 SC and it works like a charm. The odd thing is that it doesn't have the low-contrast signature on the Fuji that it does on m43 cameras, so it loses some of its special appeal.

I tried the CV 25/4 and it didn't work at all - heavy vignetting and blurring in the corners. Some of the wides have this problem, which has to do with the oblique angle of the light reaching the sensor at the extremes.

a 50 is a good idea indeed...i also like a 75 fov as a nice balance to a 90.
 
Another shout for the old 50mm f/1.5 Nokton. I'm really quite enjoying 75mm on the XP1 right now. Mind, the 35mm f/2.5 CV M pancake is pretty good too and nice and compact without the hood.
 
I use the 12/5.6 ,15/4.5, 21/4 28/1.9, 35/1.4sc M mounts and the 40/2 Ultron (F mount) regularly on the XPro1. The 40/2 Ultron and 28/1.9 were my favs. The 35/1.4 and 21/4 are pretty standard and work well. 15 is pretty amazing. But the 12/5.6 for some reason gets kind of weird in the corners (distorted and soft) (more so then normal). The xpro1 is the only camera Ive had this issue with, with this lens.

One thing about the 35/1.4sc is the flare. I dont know if the 40s flares as bad, but coupled with the xp1 in near or direct light is pretty bad. Aside from the flare, the xp1 also gets these really harsh purple orbs. Not pleasant at all.
 
another vote for the 40/2 Ultron in F-mount, it's basically glued on my GXR-M body, I often prefer it even to splendid RF lenses for the excellent close focusing abilities.
 
Although it can be difficult to find one these days, it's been my experience that the (NLA) Nikon F-mount CV 15/4.5 works quite well as a shift lens when using Kipon's Nikon F shift adapter. As mentioned earlier in this thread, the 12mm/5.6 has some funkiness in the corners that makes it less suitable for this purpose, but IMO, the 15mm does pretty well, especially with my nighttime photography, where the quality of the corners usually doesn't matter. 🙂

With the 3 lens kit + zoom, I now have all my focal lengths filled.

For street, I really like the 18.

Broadly, I like AF better than MF .... If I choose, I can set to hyper-focal and forget or AF if I want.

With some recent sales, I'm now down to only one film camera, and it's a scale focus folder ..... and held on to if for only sentimental value as it has been in the family longer than me! All my CV glass is gone in preference of the AF/MF choice. Still have a few M adapters that need to go as well!

The cv lenses I have tried on the Fuji...
- 50f1.5 works fine
- 40f1.4 mc works fine
- 28f1.9 needs to be stopped down to around 2.8, the f2 version I have heard is better.
- 25f4 ltm mount works fine but not a fan of the click preset for hyper focal distances on the lens. It was the kit lens to the Bessa L body
- 15 and 21 ltm, your mileage varies depends on how picky u are about the corners.

CV lenses I've tried on the X Pro:

- 35mm f/1.4 Nokton Classic MC
- 40mm f/1.4 Nokton Classic SC
- 28mm f/2 Ultron
- 35mm f/1.2 Nokton ASPH V2

My fave of the bunch was the 35mm f/1.2 shot between f/2 and wide open with an ND filter (conveniently 52mm, and borrowed from my Nikon kit), it shows a nice signature on the X Pro, although it's shockingly not as sharp as I'd expected it to be wide open. I don't use it often though because of it's size and weight makes the X Pro very front-heavy and causes it to rest in an awkward, makes-me-nervous way when slung on a shoulder strap. Overall it's still lighter than any Leica M but balance is important for me because I'm quite accident prone.

Surprisingly, none of these lenses were as impressive as I've perceived them to be on my M8. I don't think it's because the CV glass is lacking in any way (because it isn't); it's more that my first lens was the Fuji 35....and the Fuji 35mm is just *that* good.

Haven't been inspired enough with the output of the 28mm Ultron to really play with it but I do like the approximately 40mm equivalent I get.
 
Has anyone tried the 50 f1.1? I've been thinking about trading my version 3 50mm summicron for one, but wouldn't do it if it didn't work well on both my M6 and my XP1.

It is just because with this sensor, M or LTM lenses wider than 35/40mm don't look good. They look as they should on Nex, GXR or R-D1. It would be great that they work with the otherwise great sensor of the Fujis... just look for images and judge by yourself, it's pretty evident
