Hi,

I mixed some D76 for the first time and a few days a go black bits have formed at the bottom - is this normal? should I strain before use? Thanks.

I have been mixing D76 from powder for years and never saw any black bits. There are some white flakes or sediment from the powder.

I didn't have that issue, i suggest that you use it on a film that is not so important for you, just a test, if the film coming out fine then don't worry and keep using it, if there are some issues then discard it and try to get newer one, so simple as that.

I have done a test and the film that I have developed were OK.

I knew about the white flakes/ bits after doing some research on D76 - this went away after a day or so.

I used an old shirt to filter out the but after a few days it comes back. The particles are so tiny that it would pass straight through a coffee filter. To see them you have to look really hard or wait for it to settle to the bottom.

How long does D76 last ? I have it in a glass bottle+metal cap(up to cap full) and mainly use it at full strength.
