I have a Summitar that came to me with the aperture ring all but seized up—took significantly more force to turn than to unlock the lens barrel to collapse it.
I unscrewed the front cell, scraped off the gunk and cleaned all the comtact surfaces on the aperture ring and regreased with moly grease, the thickest stuff I had around. Now the aperture ring is too loose (loose as in easy to turn, not as in rattling).
Does anyone have a suggestion for what to grease it with to give it some resistance? I live in Houston, so it's gotta be something that stays sufficiently viscous when it's 95F and humid.
