I'm sure that Dante's site will be back up. This has happened before. But his brother's (Davidde) site is also down. It too had much valuable information which complemented in many instances Dante's articles. I'm sorry to see it gone.

Davidde went bye bye a while ago. I have been wondering what happened to him too.

William, you are a godsend! Thanks so much for this archive link. Greatly appreciated.

I was recently trying to access Davidde's excellent lens reviews & using your link I was just able to do so. I have been trying to find an alternative telephoto optic for the Zeiss Ikon rather than the expensive offerings from Zeiss & Leica. I remembered the M-Hexanon 90/2.8 & that Davidde had done a review. Now I've got the review & a link to a second one!

My only disappointment is that the lens diagram is missing & I am a fan of those. At f/2.8, it's not quite as fast as the latest from Zeiss & Leica, but it's longer than the Rollei 80/2.8 & it's fast enough especially since you don't need wide apertures on a telephot to isolate your subject. It will be on my short list.

Cheers,
Huck

A bunch of pages in the technical section dont seem to work right now unfortunately :/ Speaking of witch, am I right in my calculations that a 90mm fujinon lens in 6x9 format is a little over 35mm in... uh 35mm format ? 🙂

Hey🙂

Yes I make it equivalent to 36mm precisely. 🙂 Which is hardly surprising since the two formats are similar (in the geometrical sense), and the length of the 90mm lens is equal to the long side of the 6x9 frame size. It therefore follows that the length of the equivalent 35mm lens would equal the length of the longest side of the film frame - ie 36mm.

Thanks 🙂

Now I really want one of those gw 690's 😀
