Dark sprocket holes - what's wrong with dev

Hi all,

I recently developed an old TriX 400 roll in Rodinal 1:100 stand for 1 hour. Now I made a mistake of doing 500ml water and 5ml Rodinal with another roll in the tank so I think there's not enough dev. But the film came out with rather weird random black part of the sprocket holes that I'm not sure whether it is caused by underdevelopment or not.

Can some one enlighten?

Before commenting any further:

- Was this shot on a Leica M6?
- Is this the first time you see such "graying" on the films out of that specific camera?
- The old Tri-X roll: Did you spool it from a 100' roll or was it a 36-exp. roll?

It was too long to remember but I think it was shot on the M3, this is the first time I see it hence the post and the Tri-X is from a 36-exp store-bought roll.

How old? Stored someplace that got hot? Looks like an overall age/storage fog to me, tho there is some un-evenness to it on that one edge. No shadows from sprocket holes would likely rule out fog from the tank leaking light.

One possibility is the unexposed film roll had been subjected to heat, the edges closer to the metal container have been affected (along the left side it seems uninterrupted, otherwise there should be some other reason..)

In general...the sproket holes being developed like that is usually the sign of over agitation. In 4x5 dev, it shows up as the the negative holder outline (the one for developing, not the one used for exposing).

Thanks so far guy, it's about a year old, shot in England but I found it here in Vietnam where it's much hotter, 30C, but don't think that's too hot for the film is it? It's been sitting in a cupboard drawer as well.
