Hey guys,

I previously posted some stand development results using Rodinal + Tri-X 35mm shot at box speed. The results were not great, and I'm guessing it was due to inadequate developer preparation. For that batch I did 1:100 but only provided 2mL of Rodinal.

Someone suggested that I use a minimum of 5mL, which I did this week on a roll of Pan F+ (shot box speed). Same dilution, 73F for 55 minutes.

This batch came out much better and I am very happy with the results. Let me know what you think!

PS: the negatives are not very clean...I think there are consistent water marks at the bottom of the images, although I'm not 100% sure what they are.

Best,
Rob

Looks good to me. I’m still exploring the attributes of Rodinal at 1:50. Nice details in the mandolin. Do you play?

Thank you, and yes I do play! I'm mostly a bassist but took up mandolin this year. My mandolin and my SP are two of my most prized possessions, so it's nice to have them paired here.

You're getting uneven development. Look at the sky in the boat photo. Stand development is a waste of time with modern films; I have never seen great results with it. Rodinal 1+50 is beautiful for Pan-F and you won't get streaks or mottling in the sky!

PanF worked great for me with Rodinal 1+100 (20C) for 20min agitating every other minute
I learned to go easy on the agitation to avoid burning the highlights and extending the tonal range
