Darned Gallery timeout issues

Oh, and Bob, one other thing.

Bill threatened me here with physical harm.

I'm a 55 y.o. little fat guy.

Last thing I need is to have some character here "call me out" for a fistfight!

Okay, the guy scares the hell out of me. Particularly now that he claims he's going to hop on a train and come to NYC. Does that sound like a rational being?

I'm very concerned for my well-being.

George - You verbal assault wasn't about their property it was about your believing I was there to take pictures.

My objections were that the owners thought for some reason that theirshop was threatened by my camera. Mind you it was "cop shop"filled with cops. No threat from me.

You misread and you mispoke.

And yes, It was offensive.

Um. I have a suggestion.

Instead of talking this out on the forum, why don't you do it in a PM. Sounds like something private between the two of you.

And things were going so well in this thread.

Earlier today I uploaded 3 images of the 5 I'm allowed.
However, when I tried to upload more, the server said I had exceeded my limit.

IMO, this needs some work Jorge

From a web developers perspective:
Disclaimer: I have not developed in PHP since version 1.3 and I do not know exactly what version this forum is using.

The Forum software seems to be a LAMP product (Linux, Apache, MySQL PHP) or hybrid. It uses javascript and CSS to provide the display details and PHP to provide the page templates and backend database connectivity. Two of these components CSS and Javascript are rendered very differently in different browsers. This will cause anomalous page rendering and session messaging back to the template engine and session manager.

A site such as this is a very complex programming task to begin with. I doubt that Jorge is the author of the software, he can only make modifications that are documented.

In other words, running a site with this kind of traffic (not to mention the spiders, robots and hackers) takes time and effort. It is what it is, a good free site run by an enthusiast, If you want Flickr (A great piece of software: WSDL web service using SOA on a Java application server) use Flickr.

I feel like I'm reading the script for the movie "Groundhog Day". I feel like I'm reading the script for the movie "Groundhog Day". I feel like I'm reading the script for the movie "Groundhog Day". Well - there's been some people expressing strong points of view. I'll just speak for me:

I like it here:

* It's friendly
* Funny
* A lot of the stuff in the gallery is first class - some of you lot should be famous!

The gallery is my main reason for being a member but I like it that people talk about their gear too. In fact it's the combination that's special - passionate about photography and enjoying the toys too. If RFF served London Pride or Guiness, it would be fairly close to heaven.

Perhaps that's the problem, I use Firefox and Mozilla and avoid Macroshaft products like the plague they are.

Yes, I greatly appreciate what JT has given us with this web site but that doesn't mean I don't get really frustrated sometimes.

As suggested, it may be best to direct PM's to Jorge with the technical difficulties one is having with aspects of this site, or if anyone is going to post publically in a thread, to do so in a respectful or at least neutral manner, rather than in a complaining, angry tone, which is the way it was presented the other night.

Now there's the idea that I have been waiting to hear. The RFF bar. We could serve 1000 different shades of beer and no wine 🙂

And the best coffee in town.

But no new-wave disco-techno-splice&dice music.

Hip cats could come in and wax about their Leicas or FEDs or whatever. Open mike on Friday night.

Spoken word with drunken drink. Lose your imbihibitions, show ALL of your lenses.

Oh, BTW, 1 week to go to the Commonwealth games and we're having nightly knife fights here in Melbourne.

Thanks,
James
