We won’t deign to draw any conclusions just from having looked at a few samples, but Hobby had this to say after trying out the new glass:
This thing is the real deal: Tack sharp wide open, surprisingly rectilinear and with RIDICULOUS optical image stabilization.

Still wondering what that "fast wide-angle lens" is on Fuji's roadmap, scheduled for release in mid-2014. Until I see that, I'll hold off on considering any of the other new toys Fuji is throwing at us.

OMG, this lens puts the Canon L and Nikkor professional ultra wide equivalent SLR zoom lenses to shame !!!

Just been thinking about which lens next on another thread. Changed my mind - I'll definitely be investigating this one when it's available.
