HI all
I just subscribed to this site about a month ago and I am finding some valuable information. I have been into photography since I was 12 and I am now 71 years young
I just purchased the following for a grand total of $400.00. The question is how good a deal was this?
1. Leica M3 sn 928xxx single lever advance in absolute mint condition
2. Summicron dual f=5cm 1:2 in mint condition with a Waltz Sunnicron #85c filter. I think the filter has been on the lens from day one, because I can’t get it off. This is good because the lens has no surfice scratches.
3. Optical viewing unit adapter for the dual lens
4. Lens hood IR00A
5. MC Leica meter in original box. It works and the readings match my Weston meter.
6. Incident adapter for mc light meter in a leather case. It works.
7. Leica Westzlar green filter in original box.
8. Leather case in well used condition. I had to sew the nose back on. By the looks of the case the camera probable was always used when in the case.
9. Flash angle bracket #15545 black crackle finish, in original box never been used.
10. Chico flash unit in original plastic box.
11. Kisselbach Pocket Leica book, Third Edition.

This is my second Leica camera. I purchase a 3f also in mint condition on Ebay and I was lucky it was in good condition also.
I figure all this is worth [if I was going to sell it, which I’m not] about $1500.00. What do you guys think? I have run two rolls of film thru the camera and they are excellent.
Anyone have any inputs?
This is my first post so I hope I did it right.

All that for just $400?

Pogybear... if you didn't do right, you're pulling our collective leg. Yes, the camera, the lens and the meter are a fairly nice amount, but not as much as $1500... unless the M3 be in absolutely mint and perfect condition.

Is it?

In any case, welcome to the forum! 🙂

Welcome to the forum! And yes I think you got a good deal. If the DR Summicron is in great shape and the M3 is a minty late serial number double-stroke you might get $1,500 for the kit - unless you got some guys into a bidding war on eBay. More likely somewhere between $950 and $1,150 - but still half price is a good deal in my book. Whatever you paid, I hope you enjoy using it!
