I asked the seller about offering film again at $24.95, and he agreed to do so yesterday. I did not buy any film though.

What made you ask, and then not buy ? Seems like wasted effort.
Just got my order- proper, with the original looking packing, dated early next year. The $34.95 lots were dated 2010 expiration.

I asked for the Tri-X but he lowered the TMAX. That's why I did not buy. It was not a wasted effort on my side. I want the Tri-X.

For the Sydneysiders;
Vision Image Lab have some out of date (late 2006) Agfa Optima 100asa in 120 format at $4.25 a roll (AUD).
It is in a very cold fridge at present but who knows where it's been stored in years past.
I bought some, haven't tried it yet.

A definite non-deal is Polaroid 665 positive-negative film. Sellers appear, on average, to want US$60 for each pack of 10. Hefty. Anyone have a load of the stuff that they'll part with?

That's really me
There's an ebay seller that has Fuji Superia 400 and 800 really cheap.
I just got x2 packs of Fuji Press 400 for $21 total. Not too bad. The ones I got were post dated Oct 2001.

Just shot my first four rolls of Arista premium 400 from Freestyle, http://www.freestylephoto.biz/index.php and I agree with those who think it's re-packaged Tri-X. $1.99/36-exp roll! I'm buying it by the brick from now on!

Australians - Vanbar is having a sale it seems.
B&W film (something called 'lucky') Au$2.50/roll. Seems cheap to me, although I've never tried it. Marked down from over $7.
Off topic sort-of... Vanbar is seriosuly cheap for chemicals. Perceptol and Rodinal (my two developers) are a bargain compared to Freestyle, plus of course the shipping is a lot better.

I probably mentioned this before, Fotoimpex in Berlin sells relabeled HP5+ for 23 Euros / 10 films. Monochrome still has Rollei Retro 100 for 1.20 Euro / roll, Rollei 400 for 2.20 / roll.

That film is ECN-2 process - it has a 'remjet' backing which ideally needs a machine to remove - getting it off yourself is laborious and (very) messy.

What about the second one? The Fuji 8582 400T?

Don't know, Walmart surely isn't killing photoghaphy in myu town here. The department is fairly small the quality grim. The scans terrible. Compare them with Costco and you will see a whole different world. Word even has it they are planning on discontinuing film al together. No, I"m not worried about Walmart. When B&H and others starting significant film thinning then we have to worry.
I want the best in lower contrast, fine grain negative print film for hopefully less than $3 a roll. What are my choices. I like Fuji Pro 160 best so far, but it is like gasoline and begining to put on its summer fat.

Can't resist to respond. It is the same landscape if you are going to travel/live in other developing countries.
WalMart IS an American capitalism success story. I don't agree some of its employment policies, e.g. capping what a part-timer employee can earn annually even if he/she is willing to work overtime, or not paying health benefits for part-time worker. But that is the flaw of American labor law, or the fault of our pension system, not the business per se.
Having said that, if you go to WalMart overseas, products on the shelf are also considered imported, it's imported from even cheaper-labor countries. WalMart in Mexico is selling imported Fuji or Kodak films at about the same price as here in the States in dollar term, so at least they don't price-discriminate shoppers like some manufactuerers.
There are no WalMarts near where I live, in New York City. So I have to go the B&H for all my films/darkroom purchases so you should consider them an indenpendent shop. I can tell you they are not pleasant to deal with if you don't know what you are asking. Becasue they are the only one game in town, their schedule is more strict than any retail places I have been to. How can you close whole last week for Succos even though I understand it is important Jewish holiday and they can do what they see fit. So can they hire some professional management team to run on retail hours?
If you can do it better, please let someone else try. I don't think WalMart can substain this way much longer, maybe a new kid will be on the block... That's the American way.-![]()
