Dear KEH:

This is interesting news - because I've made three purchases from KEH in the past month using PayPal so I use funds from checking.

Do you folks log in before you start shopping?

On a Mac, I cannot even log in. But when I use my Ubunto laptop. I have no problem with login in. I can shop and add things to cart without login. Login in later when I checkout all works fine.

I never had these problems using their old site on a Mac.

Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's awful. I never buy anything online, I call them and lock the item in. Yesterday I got their catalog in the mail, at least there is still that.

Boy, isn't that the truth! Have you tried emailing them? I was just trying to find something on their site and gave up. Again. Others have said this, but how can a company that gets the vast majority of it's sales online stay in business w/ such problems? Their old website was awful too and always going down, but the new one is utterly hopeless.

I emailed them multiple times. No answer so I got a body somewhere else.

It has always been slow - and I mean slow. Plus items are often listed under interesting names which seem to be of KEH creation.

I have found the site a little slow and a few times totally not very responsive at all ... but with the cost of international shipping it would have to be something special for me to do more than look
Their grading system seems odd too :)

Strange, I just ordered a Nikon hood for a 28mm lens from KEH 15 minutes ago and checked out using my CC card. No problems. Running Windows Vista with Firefox 3.6 browser.

Best Wishes!

Strange problems. Tried to drop about a week's net pay on an item Monday and got as far as the credit card verification. My preference is to use the web site rather than the phone because they seem to fill orders more accurately that way.

Prices they pay for manual focus SLR gear seem to be slipping.

When was their Website EVER really any good?

Well, their site was never an example of leading edge design, but I never had any problems using it until they rolled out their new infrastructure late last year.

From here, the problems seem sporadic, but reliably present. I'm on a Mac. The site performs the same on Safari, Firefox, and Chrome, In any case, there is no excuse for anyone going live with a site that doesn't work on all major platforms and all major browsers. Having a site that doesn't work, say, with Safari makes no more sense than building a brick-and-mortar store with an entrance that blocks anyone over 6 feet tall.

I see pages time out. I see frequent server error message. The "confirm order" page never appears.

It's 2010, not 1993. People know how to build web sites that sell stuff.

I've had problems with their site, with responses to emails, and with getting someone there on the phone. Long periods on hold with never an answer, messages left with never a callback, and when I did get someone who was supposed to check on something and call back, that never happened either. This is all in the past few weeks.

Same here. I have bought many items from keh over the years and past a few weeks has been a nightmare. I have received wrong lens, emails was never replied, no one answers the phone or no call back.
I finally got a hold of someone and I told him what happened. I asked whether they are doing okay or is there something going on down there. He replied that they are doing great, profit has doubled during 2009.

So my conclusion was: they are making loads of money and they don't have enough personnel to handle the current money load.

If you use facebook, you can take a look at here:

My experience too. I consider them too risky because they are so flighty. It is good there are other places.

My web experience with them is everything that everyone has complained about in this thread. But on the other hand, every time I have need to talk to them on the phone, I have never had any problems getting a hold of them. Longest wait was 6 minutes. Shortest was 2. They have always been helpful.

I have never had any problems on a Mac until they redesigned their site.

I was there today using my office PC Dell with IE and it was up.

I just went to their site now... three secs to bring up the page... about 10 secs to go to 35 mm another 10 secs to get Leica....

Running Mac OSX 10.5.8 w Safari 4.0.4

just sayin'

I am on snow leopard 10.6.2. have tried safari and chrome... :-(

only my ubunto laptop has been successful

My experience has been frustrating ever since they "upgraded" the web site. At about 4PM CST today the site was off-line as far as I could tell (no response in 15-20 seconds, anyway).

When the site is working, on the product listing pages, I have had the best luck by changing from "Show [25] Results per Page" to "Show [All] Results per Page." This field is right above the first item in the list.

If there's lots of items, it is a long list, but at least you can see everything. Otherwise, you can't.

I haven't actually tried to place an order since they updated the site. I just go to look and dream.

Well, they have made NO improvements since this thread started. Been trying to get on their site for the last few hours and get nothing bur server error messages. Finally just bought what I needed on the auction site, and am just about ready to give up on these guys. Why not? They've given up on their customers. The only thing I can think of is that they want you to call them vs going to their site. It's the only thing that makes any sense. No company in their right minds would have these sort of issues w/o fixing them.
